Sticky Sidebar Ad & Google Adsense

Hi there,

I think I recall reading somewhere on the Newspaper theme documents to be careful if you have a sticky sidebar ad on your posts & use Google Adsense. Is that true? Do Google Adsense not like the sticky sidebar ad, or am I ok?

Thanks so much Catalin. Just to be sure: do you know of any times where site owners have been suspended by Google AdSense because the sticky sidebar ad violates their policies?

Sorry but please notice that until now we do not have any kind of reported cases about Google Adsense. You should carefully read the Google AdSense documentation in order to implement it and display it on your website.

I found this in the google adsense forum:
“Here’s the page about placement of ads: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/1346295?hl=en

In particular, “Drawing unnatural attention to ads includes placing Google ads in a floating box script that causes the ad to appear in a “sticky” position on the page as the user scrolls down. This type of ad implementation is not permitted.”

If you see sites violating this principle, please report them to Google using the ‘ad choices’ logo”.
