Stop linking to Google, Facebook etc…

Hi, I purchased the theme. So far so good!

Three months ago, I asked about how to completely remove Google, Facebook elements in the theme (google-fonts etc.), because I’m using it for Chinese visitors. If there’s anything in the theme that links to these “prohibited” source, Chinese visitors will not be able to open my webpages.

Three months ago, you replied with:

The theme connects to Google to retrieve the fonts used by default. You could remove the default fonts by commenting their code lines – http://screencast.com/t/xYm2czjPUU

By now I just purchased this theme, it seems functions.php looks very different from back then. The 3-month old info does not apply. Please give me update on how to stop linking to Google, FB, Youtube etc..

Thank you!

Hi Lucian,

I deleted Google-font section in td_config.php

I Switched off social sharing network in theme panel.

I wonder what other websites the theme links to when visitors are visiting the front end? Is there a list, so I can check if other websites are ‘prohibited’?

From my observation in corner of browser, that fraction of a second of linking to googleapis… is gone. But I can’t recognise other links as it moves too fast. Or you have tips that I can check what the theme is linking to when visiting front end?

Thanks a lot!

I observed there’s gravatar.com — how to remove, please?

If you can provide a list of the front end is linking to… I’d like to remove them all. I don’t think there is many?

You can check who/what/where your site is linking to by using tools like pingdom, chrome browser console (F12), etc.

You can typically remove link to gravatar — which is a function of wordpress, not the theme (easy to google this topic, btw), by simply disabling the gravatars in your WP theme panel. https://codex.wordpress.org/How_to_Use_Gravatars_in_WordPress

1.Log in as an administrator to your site
2. Navigate to Settings > Discussion and scroll down to the “Avatar” Section
3.The “Avatar” section presents you with several options: ◾Avatar Display: Toggle Gravatars on and off for your site.

Hi,

Unfortunately I don’t have a list for external link, but I will try to help you if you find more links and want to delete/disable it. Chris provided above a solution for gravatars, also if you us a plugin like WP User Avatar(we use it on our demo) you have this option to use local avatars – http://screencast.com/t/83jiVbNhGn

Thanks!
