After updating the latest theme and visual composer the raw html on my homepage appear as below.

If I try and delete and add new content to the raw html element it does not work.

Hi,
Please try and re-download the theme package now, install it again. There was a problem with the text and HTML elements but it problem should be fixed now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
After you re-install the theme check to see if it works. Let us know.
