I’ve been able to change the background color of the subfooter to white, but the “full width” black remains on either side ….
Help appreciated. : )

All the footer colors can be changed from the theme panel here: http://screencast.com/t/o3idLJtumt
If you still cannot change a color, please provide a link to your site so we can inspect it and see why it;s not applying.
