subtitle field?

hello everybody,
I’m new to newspaper – and I’ve got a simple question:

Is there any field for a subtitle available (when I’m about to migrate my old site into the new theme I’d like to
grab the yet used subtitles into a corresponding field in the editor) – and if: how am I going to activate it and let it show in virtual composer?

If there is no subtitle-field available yet (the standard wordpress editor doesn’t offer any subtitle by default)
how would you suggest to assign such a field for my theme and make it show in the edit mode to be filled when writing posts (no custom post type!)

thanks a lot

Hi,

Our theme provides a post subtitle field: http://screencast.com/t/icH9EJeyvW in the standard post type (not CPT) but i’m not sure if you can import your subtitles from the other theme though, as the implementation for the subtitles may be different. You will maybe have to paste them in on every post if they are not grabbed automatically.

Thank you!

Hello,
thank you for your kind reply.

since I haven’t really been using the theme yet I wonder if this subtitle-field is displayed (as a field to be filled) while editing posts in visual composer (is the text-editor inside of VC the same as the standard- wordpress editor, related to its range of functions?)

basically what i’d like to have is something like the “wp subtitle”-plugin is offering, which looks like this: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-subtitle/screenshots/

but I don’t know if and how this would integrate into VC’s editor-window

what is the name of the subtitle (or subheadline-)field that newspaper 6 offers? would it be possible to have the field appear right underneath the headline in VC’s editor (like the wp subtitle-pugin makes it available in the standard editor window of wordpress)?

many thanks in advance

Hello,
Unfortunately the subtitle field is not available in visual composer. the subtitle is for posts only. It’s a filed that can be filled on every post, but this option is not available in visual composer. Our modules and blocks do not display the subtitle by default. It can be done however by editing the theme files. if you want to show subtitles on the homepage in the theme’s blocks you can follow this topic to see how it can be done: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/output-subtitle-in-blog-loop/
Thank you!
