I’m using the Newsmag theme and wondering what the options are for adding social icons to one of my sidebar widgets? I’m not seeing any tagdiv social widgets in the widget editor or the page builder.

Unfortunately there is no social widget to be added with VC or from Widgets area. Sorry for inconvenience!
You can enable social network from Theme Panel > Header: http://screencast.com/t/8B9CeVcMfgQ also will appear in footer if you use Column 1 predefined content: http://screencast.com/t/YRypz6ORF

You can also add your own with a little html and css or via a plethora of plugins in the repository.
