Hey guys,
Since updating to Newspaper 9.01, I am unable to edit existing content and can’t create new content for my page either. Can’t create new posts, products, pages etc… I CAN edit existing content if I disable TagDiv Composer. I have re-installed all plug-ins, cleared my cache etc… but NO luck.
Any ideas?
Also, to provide some additional context, since installing Newspaper 9 my website functionality has completely stopped working. Even running bare bones plug-ins do not work. For example, if I enable Cloud Library, I can’t create any new content. If I activate WooCommerce – No luck. I can only run the most simple plugins in the theme to use it but no other plugin is working well. VERY disappointing since I am not even sure where to start troubleshooting this. If I turn off the theme with all other plugins active, everything works great. Please see email with admin access if you would like to poke around.
One of the really bad things about Newspaper 9.01 is that the theme says TD composer is REQUIRED in all red, as if the theme won’t work without it. Nothing could be further from the truth, and for those upgrading, this is a real deception. Change “required” to “choice of two composers” or something. You are killing people with this bad UI.
WP Bakery and tagdiv composer will both eventually be replaced by the default Gutenberg being added to WordPress installations now. There will always be room for tagdiv and Visual Composer to work inside WordPress, but I’m sure more developers and theme designers will opt with working with Gutenberg.
So it was a good strategic move for tagdiv to build their own WYSIWYG editor, but now they need to pivot to another method to engage future customers. I suggest they build upon Gutenberg and make a kickass complement to Gutenberg. That way they can grab even more customers who may not need the Newsmag or Newspaper theme, but instead want better Gutenberg-related addons.
Just my two-cents 🙂
Not true. TD composer claims “required”, but you can wipe it completely and use WP Bakery Builder. Use one or the other. Especially if you built your site with VC. My point is how bad it is for long time users who upgrade to 9.01. Really, not a quality experience, and I have come to like TagDiv quality otherwise.

Hello,
You can use VC instead because the theme will work fine with only VC as well. You will not be able to use the cloud library plugin though. The plugin was designed to work through the tagdiv composer and not any other page builder. If you do not need td composer or the cloud library templates, you can use VC as you did before newspaper 9.
Thank you!
