My host says it’s because I need a “lighter theme.” Surely it can’t be normal for the site to take up to 5 minutes just to publish a new or publish an edit to an existing post. Pages also take a long time to load in browser. Any insight would be helpful.
You probably need to increase the minimum memory needed for PHP via the hosting panel and ALSO in the wp-config.php file. 256MB is a good starting point for minimum.
Thanks for the response. The PHP memory limit is at 512m. Any other ideas as to why it is so slow to publish or edit posts?
if you have large site with a lot of posts, you can try wp db cleaner plugin to remove stuff like orphan meta from deleted posts and stupid draft revision copies stuck in dbase….on one site i had 123,000 of those!
