I could not find the settings to stretch a row full width but keep the content in it un-stretched and then have an individual row background colour. Even with inner-row I could not find the settings.

That would be the simple stretch row setting – http://prntscr.com/mkjql7 it will stretch the row but not the content like the others. Should be what you are looking to do.

My mistake was, that I dropped all elements on the page into only one row, so my result affected basically the whole page.
That is solved now. Case closed!
As a side note: I feel that TD Composer doesn’t yet help very much to see and manipulate rows. There is no clear visual divider between rows. Not a major isue, just a friendly feedback.
