I bought this nice theme and installed it on gadget-freakz.com.
But I went from a high score to a very low so I did all the tutorials on this site to improve the speed.
but a lot of loading comes from the almost 1mb css file: td_legacy_main
is this needed? what does it do and can we improve or workaround this?

Yes, the td_legacy_main is needed. Your page speed looks pretty good but if you analyze it using gtmetrix you will see what needs improving: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/gadget-freakz.com/JPEGtC8A
