Hi, since i’ve installed your theme newspaper, my homepage Text HTML Radio went down, causing SEO issues to my site

Your home page code to text ratio is: 1.38 % Check ratio

% Ratios and meanings:

0% – 10%: Consider adding more content or revamping your code.
10% – 25%: Content is moderate, but always room to improve.
25% – 70%: Generally good, but don’t over do it.
70% – 100%: If you’ve got higher than about 70% or so then you’ve got a lot of text and not a lot of code, which might sound like a good thing, but could represent spam too.

Is there any solution to update the theme and making it more SEO friendly?

Hi,

What tool did you used for this test? The theme is optimized for SEO, i recommend that you install WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin for better results.

Now i’ve rised up a bit, but still very low compared to competitors.

even in post, with lot of text, we have the issue, cause the theme loads a lot of codes, if, and options.

The Theme does load a lot of stuff, so that the text html ratio is very slow. Is there anyone that can help me?

HOW TO FIX
In order to pass this test you must increse your text to HTML code ratio. Here are some tehniques:
move all inline styling rules into a external CSS file
move your JavaScript code into a external JS file
use CSS layout instead of HTML tables

Hi,

You need menus, containers, css and other elements to make the page look nice. You also added a lot of custom elements like pop-ups, ads, etc.
Your main page doesn’t come with content, it’s just a gate, maybe that’s why the tool returns a lower score for it.
I’ve made a test on one of your posts and i got this – http://screencast.com/t/mz1Jy7M2v41 , i’ve tried to make another test and i got this – http://screencast.com/t/UkOSFC5c89zA , my advise would be to use another testing tool.
We followed the best SEO practices and we tested the theme on Google webmaster tools.

Woocommerce, Buddypress, are some example and stuff like that. I cannot disable them from the theme panel, i need to know how can i customize the theme so use only the things that are really important for my site, without codes of stuff that are not working on it.

Do you have a guideline to have a lighter version of the theme, in order to load only the essentials?

Hi,

@rnbjunk If you take a closer look at the ccs code that the theme generates you’ll notice that almost all of it set’s an #6e61b0 color which represents the theme’s accent color which you’ve set for it while other is the css for the settings you’ve chosen for your theme appearance, that’s how the theme works.
The woocommerce/bbpress or buddypress css added by the theme can be removed if you don’t use it or need it. Search for it in themes style.css file or .less files and remove all css line which refer to woocommerce or bbpress or buddypress.

Hi Lucian! Thanks for the advice! What is unclear to me is that color part. I mean, that color selection on the theme panel affects the CSS and make it heavier? Are you saying that?

The issue for me is to reduce the CSS and the code on the page in order to have a better results text/html ratio.

Can you take note about those issue for the next version of the theme? I love it, but would be great to offer a lighter version for more basics sites, or automated option to disable things that we don’t need.

Please let me know, i would love to go on with the theme, and recovering on search enginees as well.

Hi,

If you are not using woocommerce or bbpress you can remove the forum templates and shop style. Please make a backup of your current theme installation before in case something goes wrong you can revert back to it.
According to it’s settings the theme generates another css which overwrites the default one so yes when you change your settings extra css is added to the page.
We will investigate and consider this for future versions.
