Text widget disappears when below block

First, this is an amazing theme. Best by far I’ve ever purchased.

I’ve hit an odd issue. See an example here: http://millstonenews.com/news/category/councillors-forum/

Note the ‘Subscribe by Email’ text widget in the right sidebar. I’d prefer that to be below the next block, ‘Latest Posts’… but when I move the widget there it disappears. The code of the widget is visible when I use the inspector, but it doesn’t display.

Any ideas?

Another question: how do I disable the ‘Latest’ drop-down at the upper right on that and all other category pages? I can hide it with CSS of course, but I’d rather just disable it.

Hello,

I’m not sure how the widget is implemented and unfortunately we cannot offer any support for plugin implementation. Sorry! You could try to add the widget in a text block and see if it gets accepted.
As for the latest dropdown, there is no setting in the theme panel for it. You can either hide it with css or remove it from the theme files: http://screencast.com/t/sQrP0v7cma5
