This theme was really good before the “AMP plugin integration” to the mobile theme, now the number of issues are growing
– TONS of error alerts from the Google Search Console
– Adsense earnings dropped (probably due to the previous issue)
– Mobile Google Analytics issues
– Problems with the speed of the site
– We are unable to use critical plugins like DISQUS in AMP
And now this: My database is being spammed very hardly by AMP plugin. It’s creating an enormous number of transients in wp_options table.
I believe my site might even crash soon because of this issue. Why a proper mobile implementation is NOT critical for Tagdiv if 60% of our traffic is mobile?.
Plus, deactivating the AMP plugin, gives me a blank home page.

Until now, notice that we do not have any bad reports in this case, sorry! Please try to make a new sub-domain for testing where you need to have installed only the theme and the required plugins, clear all the caches, purge CDN files and check the results. Please notice that before each theme update, we make a lot of tests to make sure everything works in the parameters.

@Catalin, this is not due to Newspaper, but due to a serious bug with the AMP plugin , in fact the AMP plugin team just requested an SQL dump from my DB, this was also checked by the WP-Rocket plugin developers and by Kinsta Support.
I reporting this here because of your unfortunate choice to link Newspaper critical options (for news sites) to the AMP plugin.
I’m not the only one reporting BIG issues like the AdSense earnings drop or the Search Console alerts.

At the moment, the theme does not offer any support for Disqus in AMP plugin, sorry! We have added to our list of improvements and maybe, this can be considered to be a new feature in our updates.
Please provide your website URL and more details about your encountered errors with Google Search Console and your database so we can take a closer look at them and also, so we can further investigate it. Also, provide some screens with errors!!!

We know that AMP ads are not like regular Ads, in fact our AMP Ads were working good enough until Version 9.5
9.5 was a disaster for Us, AMP plugin is already disabled, right know we are working on cleaning the DB, because our wp-options table has almost five million entries with transients and class names td_uid_1_5c82894a1a5a7_rand.
This install was working perfectly before 9.5

Hi @jorgeocampo I have exactly the same problem as you. My database in the wp_options table stores millions of cached entries (transients) and I don’t know how to fix it, I have to remove them by hand every 24 hours or it grows to 250 mb (almost 1 mb per hour). The problem is delimited, is caused by the Style Sheets of Newspaper next to the official plugin AMP.

A plugin is useless with such a high number of transients, what I did was:
I deleted them using WP-CLI
I stoped using the official pluginAMP + Newspaper, because the integration is poor (toons of DB and search console errors)
One of my sites is now using Newspaper + AMP for WP plugin, the other one is using the Generate Press theme (very fast btw) + official pluginAMP
But I’m still looking for real MOBILE-FIRST news theme solution, I don’t understand why every theme is still desktop-first
Hello, thank you for the links @SimionC., I already knew them and I have installed plugins that clean the transients, but that is not the solution, because I can not be every 24 hours cleaning the database, as you understand. There is a deeper problem that you should analyze: what happens with the AMP plugin that creates all those records in the table wp_options. I’m sure that many more people with the Newspaper + AMP combination are going through but are still not aware of the problem (they will notice when the database crashes or something similar).

In our tests this doesn’t seem to happen, we will continue the investigation however to try and identify what exactly is the problem and where.
From what I know there is a plugin that you can set to automatically clear transients at a specified time each day, I believe this is the one
