Hello,
I hope this message finds you well!
I have a recurrent issue with the Newspaper theme. Every single time there is an update available for the Newspaper theme, my website’s home-page goes into shortcodes and everything gets messed up. Menus, images, configurations… all sort of issues happen. Images get duplicated, side bars change, you name it.
Just to be clear, every time I receive an email with subject “[ThemeForest] Update available for ‘Newspaper'” I already know the theme will crash, without making any changes or doing any updates.
Can you please let me know what and how to avoid this from happening in the future? Is there any PREVENTIVE action I should be aware of?
Many thanks!

Hi,
The this is not crash , but we are not allow to automatically activate the theme plugins, this need to be done manually by the user, therefore when you update the theme -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/ you’ll need to check the welcome section and update/enable the theme plugins too and the problem will be solved. -> https://i.imgur.com/vndncg5.png
Thank you!
Hi Calin,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I understand the issue is related to the automatic updates and I also knew already how to proceed *after* this particular issue happens. In other words, I was already aware that I needed to update/enable the theme plugins after the update.
My question (and the key issue here) is why is the theme updating itself automatically on random dates and without my consent – and then the home-page turns into shortcodes? What if, for instance, I’m not available on a particular day to take care of it?
Also, why when this automatic update happens I lose ALL my previous settings? After the website goes into shortcodes and I then update/enable the theme plugins, I need to setup again menus, side bars, images, logo, translation, etc.
KEY ISSUE 1) I need to have an option for the theme NOT TO update automatically without my permission.
KEY ISSUE 2) How can I keep all previous settings and configurations after the update takes place.
Thanks again for your help!
Hi,
1. Our theme do not have any options for automatic updates, this can be some settings from your WordPress or hosts for automatic update.
The update should start only when you click on install version -> https://i.imgur.com/NWrxCje.png
2. Also there settings from theme panel should be save during the update, is possible that in you case to be something that was interfering or a plugin from theme to failed the automatic update from welcome screen.
If you want we can check this problem, for this you need to make on sub-domain a test website where to set your website and provide us access to it, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.
Thank you!
