Can someone please explain the numbers displayed next to the “eye” icon on every individual post please!?
Near the top of every individual post you will see a small eye icon and a message/comment icon. The eye icon has a number next to it and I would like to know if this is a true reflection of the number of people that have visited the post. If i check google analytics it reads quite differently. Someone said that the numbers has something to do with plugin or template refreshing the page?

The counter is updated with each page load.
For example: press F5 (reload page in browser) +1 Post Counter.

yes but is the template or page doing this by itself in anyway hence the high numbers?
I need to distinguish between page views and automation.

It is a post view counter. Each post view is a generating an increment to this number. I do not know what automation you are referring to. It is a simple hit count as Edward mentioned. Any load or refresh of the post will generate a hit and thus a view.
