Hi all,
I use my university internet but i cannot save theme settings. When i push “Save” button, scroll is always rolling and rolling.
In my school, some ports are closed because of protecting issues. So, which port should be opened to save theme settings ?
If you tell me the port, i will make it open.
*Ps. when i use other internet, i dont have any problem.
Thanks.

Hi, it’s likely nothing to do with the port as we run in “ultra secure” mode here while watching external IPs try to ping our PCs from Eastern Europe — basically, if you can edit something in the WordPress panel itself like adding a user then you are not on the wrong port like 80 vs 443 or whatever —
. . . but it *might* be from using Internet Explorer (IE10,IE11), which has some issues with Ajax and some other oddities (like pasting in from MS Word never works in IE, works great in Chrome). If you can, try using Chrome (or Firefox, or Safari on Mac) and see if that works.
If this just started with WP 3.9 the other day, in all your web browsers, there may be forthcoming “fix.”

i have tried in chrome, firefox and opera but the same result with my university internet. There is no problem to change something on wordpress panel. I can change and save everything in wordpress panel except “theme panel”.
It has started before WP 3.9.
As i said before, when i use my university internet, the settings cannot be saved(the scroll is rolling and rolling). When i use other internet, there is no problem. So, probably this problem is about my university protecting things. If you tell me the port, i’ll tell IT department of my university, they will open and the problem will be solved.

Also, i cannot send comment with my university internet. I get this error;
“Forbidden
You do not have permission to access this document.”

Also, i use contact form 7 plugin. And i cannot send any forms with my university internet.(the scroll is rolling and rolling)

Before i bought this theme, everything had been working very well.
Also i repeat myself, these all features are working very well with other internet.

You might try accessing the admin panel in http://yoursite and https://yoursite – as those are different ports. If your site runs in https, then accessing the admin in http might not work correctly.
Still, I’ve not seen this issue before. It may be firewall setting on your PC.
Obviously 8880 and 8443 should be open, and port 80 might be needed, possibly 443. However these should already be functional.
FYI, standard ports are often these:
#20 ftp-data
#21 ftp
#22 ssh
#25 smtp
#53 dns (TCP and UDP)
#80 http (web server and Plesk updater)
#106 poppassd (for localhost only)
#110 pop3
#113 auth
#143 imap
#443 https
#465 smtps
#587 mail message submission
#990 ftps
#993 imaps
#995 pop3s
#3306 mysql
#5224 (outgoing connections only) plesk-license-update
#5432 postgres
#8443 plesk-https
#8880 plesk-http
#9080 tomcat
Sorry I don’t have a better answer. You may wish to utilize a process viewer or port monitor to determine WHICH ports are supposedly trying to be accessed on your PC and what are not able to connect on your network. If you’re hosting your own domains at the University, checking the error logs for your site are also a good starting point.
I sent your message to my university and the result is your theme includes some harmful things.
You can see details here;
General cross site scripting attempts where a web client sends script code to the server embedded in the HTTP POST request.
Malicious HTML Tags Embedded in Client Web Requests
http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2000-02.html
I dont understand these things, just copy and paste what my university sent.
You might try turning off any plugins you’re using which access external sites, such as social media, jetpack, forms which submit to another website URL, etc.
With normal theme without any weird add-ons or call-outs to other sites, our PCI-DSS security scanning firm passes all our sites as not having such issues.
Not my theme, but perhaps Marius and Radu might have better answer.
It would have been helpful if your sysadmin has given you an EXAMPLE of such an error showing WHICH application or code is giving that “cross scripting” error/warning. Since nobody else is having this issue, there must be something different about plugins or code you’re running on the site, which is throwing up this kind of warning message.
you might be right Christopher, i’ll setup this theme in my other website without any plugin. im gonna check it.
But actually i dont change any of my plugin. What i had before, i have now. Anyway, im gonna check on other website for sure.
I am also facing the same problem. I’m not able to save, but I use my home pc.
It all started after I migrating my website to a vps. Also, when I use the theme the site is quite slow seaworthiness.
What can be done.
hi,
please disable all plugins and try to save again.
we have interconnected problems with the theme not being able to save because of the suhosin security. (http://www.hardened-php.net/suhosin/)
my advice is to download xampp (https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html) and do a clean wordpress and Newspaper theme install (no plugins) and see if it works.
Thanks for you message.
Radu A.
I disabled all plugins still unable to save the changes in the theme panel.
