Hi,
website: http://www.mvtimes.com
I can provide you login access if I can be assured that this support item is private.
We have been using Thrive Comments, and since we updated the newspaper theme to 10.3.9.1 we are fining that Thrive Comments is not working the way it should.
We contacted Thrive Comments support and they logged in to our site to determine the issue. They said the issue was a conflict in the Newspaper theme which is preventing us from using all Thrive Comments features.
This is what they said:
I started to switch the theme to default WordPress theme and deactivate non-Thrive plugins. One by one, I activated the plugins, and it seems it’s not a plugin conflict as the Thrive Comments displays properly. As soon as I activated the Newspaper theme by tagDiv, the comments area changes to a different one. It seems your theme has its own single template(for the post) that changes the section of the comments area. Comparing the source page, it does use a different code. It seems this is customized for their theme.
Here’s how it displays when the theme is deactivated: https://share.getcloudapp.com/8LukkjGX
Could you please reach out to the theme author of tagDiv and ask if there is an option to display a different comment section for the single post template.
Can you please provide me with some code to allow us to use Thrive Comments and not restrict us to Newspaper Theme comments.
Thank you.

We were running Newspaper theme 6.X.X and updated to the latest version.
So far the update has been just one big headache. Thrive Comments was working so well for our needs before the update. We were using Thrive Comments as the Newspaper theme comments feature does not operate well enough to suit a real newspaper’s workspace and our legal requirements.
We require that the user provides their full name, first and last. Basically, we HAVE to get Thrive Comments working again OR we need to have much more control over the Newspaper theme comments feature.
We need Newspaper Theme to allow us to:
1. Add custom text above the comment area – to explain to the reader what information is required in order to publish their comment.
2. Change “Leave a Reply” to “Leave a Comment”
2. Modify the Name field, to say “First and Last Name”
3. Remove the “Website” field
4. Modify the bottom line to read “Save my name, and email (remove and website) in this browser for the next time I comment.
We are incredibly disappointed in the theme update and its prevention of allowing other plugins to work. WordPress is built on plugins working, and Thrive Comments is a Premium very-well functioning plugin that we are now unable to use since the theme update.
Who do you recommend for customization to get the Thrive Comments plugin working? Is there not a code snippet you can provide to disable the Newspaper Theme comments and allow us instead to use Thrive Comments? The current Newspaper comments is hurting our business, and costing us a lot of time.
Please help to put this right.
It would be more professional to have a support feature where the user can choose to keep their support question private from the start. You ask for as many details as possible, yet those can’t be provided in private? Very disappointed.
Hello !
We are sorry for the inconvenience that you are facing !
Unfortunately being such a big gap between theme versions it is normal to face this issue since almost the entire theme is changed, a lot of the theme files have now different locations.
Unfortunately adopting and testing plugins takes a lot of time for our developers and they do their best to adopt them. A simple shortcode or quickfix will not work in this case. If you would like to adapt this plugin to the Newspaper Theme our suggestion is to contact our Custom Work team here: https://tagdiv.com/web-development-services/
This is a public forum and the conversations are available to all the users that have an account here. It is easier for many to simply search for a topic and see how their issue might have been already solved. For private messaging please contact us via e-mail using this address: contact@tagdiv.com
Thank you for your understanding !
