Thumbnails get pixelated

Hello,

The thumbnails on my front page appear pretty low quality/pixelated, and I have a slight suspicion that it is because of the thumbnail settings. If I take an example of an image we uploaded that was 1024 × 734, when I inspect it in the grid on my front page, it is 543 x 462. I realize that it is because the theme is making it fit into the box, but will this not result in the pixelation that I am seeing?

I do not know if it could be any of our CSS, but I am pretty sure none if it would affect the quality of the image.

a) make sure you have the image sizes turned “on” in the theme panel to match all modules actually used
b) avoid using Jetpack and Photon and some other plugins which “double compress” images.

Might not be the issue, but usually can be 🙂

They are turned on, and I am pretty sure they have been from the start, but I was wondering what would happen if we turned it off and regenerated the thumbnails? Would the sizes be all messed up?

We are not using any plugins that compress our images either :/

Hi,

Try disabling all your plugins except Visual composer, then regenerate your thumbnails using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ and also take note of the requirement for the server side. After the regeneration process is complete clear any caching installed.
If this does not fix the issue you are having with the thumbnails, please provide a link to your website so we can inspect it.

Thanks
