I have just moved my theme over to Newspaper 6 and the thumbnails aren’t showing

If you click the white space where they should be, it does actually take you to the image page. Also, if I’m in customize mode (where you add widgets and such) I can see the thumbnail images.
I’m rather stumped.

I have checked your website and I saw the issue with your featured image (it seems to be a front-end issue). I suspect this problem being from your untested plugins which interact with our theme and could cause these type of issues. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
