I use Easy Social Share Buttons for my website, but recently i’ve had an issue with the code of the titles with punctuation marks in them.
The makers of the plugin told me: “We notice that problem appears because you do not use regular quotes. That makes browser to use unicode version of that symbol which breaks the Tweet.”
They continued: “amp symbol remains encoded”
The Twitter share message breaks with i add either “” marks or ” marks. Here’s the code of the Twitter share button (notice where it should say America’s?): onclick=”essb_window(‘https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Simon Cowell will be a judge on America&%238217;s Got Talent!&url=[url of site]
The title reads: Simon Cowell will be a judge on America’s Got Talent!
Any reason why the theme is making the browser use unicode versions? Is it to do with the theme/google fonts or my database? It’s not the plugin as the makers have had a look for me.
I’m happy to provide access to the site etc.

If you refer to the theme share button it is UTF8 encoded – http://screencast.com/t/2cu1ZapqcD to be properly share on tweeter. You can try to change this in the code if you need it. I have tested this using regular quotes and did not found any issues.
If you refer to the plugin share buttons, the authors replied that you don’t use regular quotes and this makes the browser to use unicode version.
