Too many reference to Google Fonts

Hi,

I have been using Newspaper v10.1 with Cloud Library active, and Standard Pack deactivated. When I look at the source code of the page, I see many “<link rel=”…> references to Google Fonts. In fact, there is a reference for every block. Isn’t it possible to have only one reference. Because I only use three fonts for the web page, and every block inside the page uses the same fonts. In this form, it increases the page load time.

Regards,

Sabri

Hi,

The theme comes with two preset default fonts, Open Sans and Roboto. You can find more information about the themes fonts here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/font-customization/ if you do not want to use the google fonts please deactivate it from theme panel -> http://prntscr.com/pt2lhg also please notice that there are no settings in our theme that allow you to change all the font family style.
Also there are elements set with tagDiv Composer that can have set individual fonts -> http://prntscr.com/pt2mo1

Thank you for your understanding!

I suspect you read what I had written. I am talking about completely different situation here. I am not interested in deactivating Google Fonts, or choosing different fonts in tagDiv Composer. In fact I have been using your themes for many years, and become very experienced. What I say is that, you are linking many times for the same Google font. For instance, if I choose to use Open Sans in two or three different blocks, every block code has a <link rel=””> tag linking to Google Fonts library. I think this is about bad design. Only one <link rel=””> for every used Google font should be enough.

For more info, I can send you a web page link for reference. I don’t want to share it here on public.

Regards. 🙂

Hello !

Unfortunately there is no fix for this. For example each block requests the fonts so that’s the reason you will have those requests.

We are sorry for the inconvenience !

Thank you !

Hi again,

By the way, it is not a good design decision, and leads to increase code size, and number of connections to external sources. They have negative effects for speed, which is an important SEO factor now.

I would like to take this situation into consideration in future releases.

Regards,

Sabri
