Hi Team Tagdiv, hope you’ve had a good weekend.
I have been looking into my AdSense revenues lately, and have found that my header ad used to be pulling in some very impressive RPMs several months ago, but has fallen away dramatically over the last six months. Obviously there could be several reasons for that, but there is one question I have about it based on my limited knowledge of coding.
Looking back at my site in the middle of last year, the header.php code had the opening <head> line, directly followed on the next line by:
<script async=”” type=”text/javascript” src=”https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pub-config/ca-pub-(MY PUBLISHER CODE).js”></script>
Now, my header.php file has about 28 lines of code before the first ad line. Would this be impacting on my revenue from AdSense?
Many thanks,
stuart
Hi
Have you made any changes in header.php file? In v 3.0 of the theme this files should look like here: http://screencast.com/t/Pgnkrw7O
I can’t say for sure if file’s content influence ad’s performances but the chances are very low. Also RPMs are just statistics dates and they don’t represent real earnings. For more detail in this regard please check this topic: https://productforums.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!category-topic/adsense/reports-and-earnings/BHSyqjhyhvo – https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/112030?hl=en
For a more accurate answer you can open a ticket on ad-sense support form as they should be able to offer more specific informatiosn about this.
Thanks!
Thanks Andrei. No, I haven’t made any changes. I assume that it is a far more complex situation, just wondering if there was something simple I could change!
RPM’s have fallen for everyone with adsense. If you see a dramatic drop in CTR then it probably is because google is ripping the “nessie” button away from a lot of publishers for accidental clicks. Try labeling all your advertisements with either “advertisement” or “sponsored content”.
Try replacing them with native ads or using a combination of adsense and networks like revcontent or content.ad. Look into analytics and see if there are any ways to increase your avg page views per session.
There is a lot more to this but hopefully that can steer you in the right direction. đ
