I hired a website developer to redesign my blog, and he purchased the Newspaper theme as part of that job. However, now the purchase is under his account name, and I am not able to update the theme at all. I do not want to have to count on him to update the theme for me indefinitely. How can I transfer the license or the rights to my account and gain access of the theme on my blog?

You would have to contact Envato and they would be able to help you. I believe the license is transferable in this case
