1. I read the following when about to load a translation> “Loading a language will overwrite your custom translation”, you have to save Settings to keep the loaded translation in your Theme”.
Bit confused, so before I download one> Questions:
1a. If I only Add the translation for some elements, will all the others remain with the default translation? Say I want to translate several elements from English to Spanish and only select these elements, will all the other elements remain in English?
2. I post articles in both English and Spanish. Can the “User” select to translate the article as they want? Lets say the posted article is in English, can the user select to translate to Spanish a specific article?

1) The warning refers to the loading of a translation, not translating separate items. When you load a translation, everything you type in these fields will be overwritten: https://www.screencast.com/t/uKKA2fb1u0iz
2) For this functionality you will have to use a plugin such as popylang as our theme does not have this kind of feature.
