Translation of Footer Pager does not work

Hi,

I know that I need to translate the strings in order to translate the footer section, but for some reason it does not pick up the translation. I use WPML and I want my footer page to be translated, so I also translated the english page to german. However, when I go to my german part of the website, it still shows the english content.

Can you help me how to translate the page – what am I doing wrong?

Many thx

Ralf

Hi,

If you use a footer page, that page can be switched by language. This is a similar topic with some more details
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/using-with-wpml/
So when the language is changed the footer page will change. I tried it again as a quick test

Pages change for me, depending on the language. What exactly is happening for you?

Thanks

Hi Simon, what you describe is exactly what I would have expected to happen. I went to my footer page and switched the language to german – than via the tagdivcomposer I translated everything and saved it. But when I go to the german page it still shows the complete content from the english footer page.

With any other page the translation worked.

In addition I just realized that the footer in the blog is corrupted as well. Here it does not seem to take the footer page into account at all.

– So you initially set a footer page in English.
– Then you translated that footer page in German.
– In WPML string translation you have added the ID of the translated page (German page)
Ex: https://www.screencast.com/t/mAG8viACxQs

That should work. For example I have a post in two languages, English and French. English will display one page in the footer

When switching the language to French, the other page is displayed (translated version of the same page)

Provide a link to the website if possible so I can take a look.

Hi Simon, I think this bit was the missing link I was looking for. Now it works. Thanks very much for your help! Have a great day!

Hello!
– Initially set a footer page in Español.
– Then I translated that footer page in Euskera.
– I have selected footer page in theme panel

But you see the same in both languages. I have not been able to change “id” in WPML string translation. I have searched but it does not appear.

Thanks!!

Hi,

@analidia
Should still work fine. In the WPML string translation panel look for the td_011 field and open it – http://prntscr.com/oazjqzhttp://prntscr.com/oazjzk

Then search for the tds_footer_page field and check it – http://prntscr.com/oazkhp
Scroll down and click apply, should be a message after pressing apply
http://prntscr.com/oazku7
If the message displays an error, please increase the max_input_vars
http://prntscr.com/oaznai
For example for me it does not save properly unless I set the value to 50000.

Then go back to the string translation main screen and the field should be ready to translate – http://prntscr.com/oazmr5

Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks

Hi Simion,

OK – In the WPML string translation panel look for the td_011 field and open it – http://prntscr.com/oazjqzhttp://prntscr.com/oazjzk

OK – Then search for the tds_footer_page field and check it – http://prntscr.com/oazkhp
Scroll down and click apply, should be a message after pressing apply
http://prntscr.com/oazku7

I dont have a message displays an error but it does not work, so, I set the value to 50000. OK

if you see the php.info you see that it has increased to 50000
But if yo go to system status it does not change.

The question is that it still does not work and I can not see the admin_texts_td_011

Thank you!

Hi,

Was there a page set as footer page before doing these steps? It could be that if there is no footer page set, the string does not appear and can’t be translated.

If the problem remains, we could take a closer look at it. Please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide the website and admin login. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Let us know.
Thanks
