Twitter count zeroed after v4>v6 upgrade.

Hello.
Recently got round to updating my v4 site to v6.4 today. I’m working on a staged copy…
Full disclosure:
Went to maintenance mode and deleted the Theme folder (and the Child).
FTPed the new up and clicked the ‘import script’ which completed and told me to regenerate thumbnails.
(All regeneration failed – but that for another time.)
Updated plugins as requested…

The first thing I have noticed is that the default page layouts and custom fonts for example are all gone! That’s a real pain but not insurmountable, HOWEVER what is a problem is that I have lost the social counts (number of Tweets on posts etc) – I am effectively starting from zero as far as the outside world is concerned… this is very bad.

I suspect there may well be more, but that’s a deal breaker!

Please advise
Thanks

Hi,

Did you made the update on your official server or you made a copy and updated on a test setup?
Please provide more details.
The theme update shouldn’t affect the tweets.

Thank you!

Hello.
I am able to create a ‘staged’ copy on my ISP’s server – so it should be an absolute duplicate…
I went through the upgrade process as best I understood it…

I can restart, but don’t know what to change in the procedure to get it right. The idea would be to overwrite the staged copy to the live site once we’re happy.

Thanks

Hi,

The likes are stored on their database(facebook, twitter), the theme doesn’t control them. We just use the like buttons provided on their api documentation. If you migrate or you do changes on the site the counter may reset. It may also reset without any notification, it’s their database and they can do that.
Check the seo plugins and the permalinks, make sure they have the same configuration as they did before the update.
Also try to create a backup and install the theme previous version, check if the counter gets back to the previous values.

Thank you!
