Hi.
There are two problems with the Twitter button in the theme.
1. When I click on it, two share windows pop up. Both are same URLs but why two?
2. The twitter status does not show the right handler/twitter profile name. (it publishes the ‘via’ but it doesn’t fetch the handler. Here’s how it renders:
via @‘ . get_bloginfo(‘name’)
We don’t have this issue on any of our websites with latest version of theme and latest version of WP… so it’s likely a misconfiguration of something you’re using, such as another social plugin. Be sure you deactivated any OTHER social plugins such as those from a former theme, something in your sidebar not properly configured, etc.
Tech support will advise you similarly, and ask for a URL to see the problem.
You can often use the developer console in Chrome to see “errors” and also look at your page source to see if any duplicate code for social media might be inserted from something other than the theme functions. Good places to start to debug your issue.
Hi,
1. Look like this issue appears when using more than one twitter button on page, as I’ve seen on your page you use in the sidebar the Social Icon widget, I have recreated this and seems that if you use only the sharing button at the bottom of the post this issue disappears.
Try to remove the social icons widget from sidebar and let me know if this solves the problem for you.
2. You can change that from here: http://screencast.com/t/ULtb2QRu
Thanks
Hi,
The @ you twitter username is added in Theme panel from v4, you can change it directly from there: http://screencast.com/t/7ZnIJuKCIA
About the 2 opened popup, we still investigate this wired bug, can you try with this disabled: http://screencast.com/t/d5x2BLUfUI The issue is present when you have 2 instances of the twitter on same page.
Thanks for the message!
Hi guys,
are you sure that this issue is fixed?
I still have it. It appears whenever I embed a Twitter link in a post. A click on the Twitter share button opens its popup twice regardless of whether a Twitter link or a Twitter embed code is used.
If I activate “Article Like/Tweet/G+” additionally via Theme Panel it doesn’t happen.
Any ideas?
Best wishes from Germany.
Matthias
Hi,
I have tested this having an tweet added to the post content (both ways – embed code and also just adding the tweet link) and didn’t found any issues with this: http://screencast.com/t/RuH4n6jnPQ
Please try to deactivate all plugins and test this again, make sure you empty cache also. Note that twitter have an issue with this and could also come from them.
Thanks
Hi,
I have deactivated all plugins. And I have emptied cache in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, the popup still appears twice in all browsers. But don’t care. This is not a big problem. Everything else works fine.
Thank you for your support.
Matthias
