As of a day ago, I suddenly found I couldn’t change the sidebar on posts.
In the theme panel within categories, there’s no longer an option to set a sidebar for each category – although all the sidebars are there in widgets.
When I post, I can set a category, but the drop down for custom sidebar is set to default and won’t change
This was working until a day or two ago.
I’ve tried rolling back to 12.6.8 which took a while, threw up lots of errors but eventually took. That changed nothing. I am now unable to upgrade back to 12.6.9. I get all the right on0-screen messages, but it just bounces back to the updates page and nothing changes.
It feels like my theme has become corrupt.
There have been no new plugins installed for months
Additionally nothing can be changed in the theme panel. All the buttons are inactive.
The same has happened for another admin.

Do you have all the tagdiv plugins required active?
Check in the Newspaper -> Plugins. Make sure the Standard Pack is also active.

Thanks for coming back to me. I checked and ‘standard pack’ isn’t installed. I tried to click to do this and received a message: Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.
I am the site admin and checked capabilities. I have everything enabled, so cannot work out why this is appearing.

Make sure that the theme files have the correct permissions. Also, let the host provider know about those issues; maybe he can guide you.
