Upgraded to the new version. But the unique article feature is no longer working.
Anyone else having a similar problem? I find it hard to believe that I’m the only who has a website with the same article appearing multiple times with with the unique article featured enabled.
I am having the same issue, when I sue the pagination option (load more, auto scroll, etc.). Also would be nice having this option when using multiple widgets in the sidebar…
I’m not using pagination, that’s the problem. It showed up right after I upgraded to the newer version.
It works for me but I don’t use load more, auto scroll.
Yes, the problem for me is when I use pagination. But this is terrible, since my home page is full with duplicated articles
I’m going to completely remove the new version. And upload the previous version. If the duplicate posts aren’t there (remember, I don’t use pagination and I have the thing enabled for unique posts), then I know it’s the new version.
This is not how I wanted to *spend* my Saturday afternoon.
I’ve done a fresh install and that didn’t fix the issue.
And after wiping every bit of the Newspaper theme from the website, the unique article is again working. My advice if you’re having issues? Backup your website, remove all plug-ins associated with the theme as well as delete the Newspaper theme from the themes folder and upload. There is no excuse to have go through this much trouble to fix this issue.

Yep, managing your updates for a theme is the best way to fix issues.
For major versions of theme update, it’s best to delete old version of theme, and install new one; delete and replace old versions of plugins with new ones.
Common sense for updating a theme. This is why the WP updater deletes old plugins before installing a new version.
Often with dot revisions you can “over write” the old version; but when you have problems, you need to delete all the old stuff, to do full upgrade to NEW version. Just like when updating WordPress itself — you don’t over-write (add to) the existing includes and admin folders, you DELETE the old folders and upload the NEW ones. Same with themes and plugins.
