Update from 1.7.1 to 2.0, child theme

Hi, I’m going to update the theme to version 2.0. I’ve noticed that you made changes to child theme CSS and functions.php. Should we modify them? Their changes are not listed in the changelog.

Also, what if the name of the parent theme directory is different from “Newsmag”? It’ll detect the parent theme automatically via what it’s set on wordpress?

Hi,

As you can see in this guide here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ we don recommend anymore the use of theme’s API from the child theme so you should be careful if using it, other than that you can still use it as it is.

It dons’t matter if the what name you use for it as long as you use the same name as the theme is in the child theme style file: http://screencast.com/t/wvrhfqKFG49e
