I’m trying to update to 2.3.5. The site is helpuconquer.com.
When activating the child theme, a list of errors appear:

I’m not a web developer but am usually good with web projects. How can this be resolved?
I have this custom CSS in the theme panel.
.wpb_gallery_slides .flex-caption .post-title{ font-size: 23px; line-height: 30px; margin-top: 5px; margin-bottom: 15px; font-weight: 600; } .wpb_gallery .wpb_wrapper .wpb_heading {
font-size: 26px;
}
@media (max-width:767px) { .td-related-title .td-related-left { font-size:14px; } .td-related-title .td-related-right { font-size:14px; } } @media (min-width:767px) and (max-width:1035px){ .td-related-title .td-related-left { font-size:17px; } .td-related-title .td-related-right { font-size:17px; } }
.wpb_widgetised_column .block-title > span, div.td-main-sidebar .block-title > span{
background: #00a2ea;
color: white;
font-size: 26px;
}
.entry li { list-style-position: outside; }
.entry ul { padding-left: 7px; }
.wpcf7 input.wpcf7-text { width: 999px; }
@media (min-width: 768px){ .td-pb-row .td-pb-span4 .td_block_11 .entry-thumb { width: 180px !important; margin-left: auto; margin-right: 9px; } .td-pb-row .td-pb-span4 .td_block_11 .td-module-title { padding-left: 185px !important; } }
.td-footer-container .td-footer-info { margin-bottom: 1px; }
I’ve only made one change to the code and that’s to the social sharing in the td_module_single.php
I’ve deleted then uploaded the new Visual Composer plugin.
I’m super frustrated. How can this be resolved?
I think you have to look at the changelog and see if any of the child files got changed. This is why I don’t use child themes; as sometimes with major updates the child theme changes along with the main theme, which kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. 🙂
Hi @awtown
With regard at the code from child theme there is an important aspects that must be considered:
– if in previous theme’s version a specific code added in child theme worked fine that doesn’t mean that will work with a new theme version. When theme update many of its files are changed and it’s a good practice to check update_log.txt file for each update and see what files had been modified so if those specific files are used in the child theme you will have to check your customizations to not break the functionality of the theme.
In this process is recommended that you first backup your child theme and all modifications then check each file you’ve customized and if it’s ok add it in the same path in the child theme, if not make adapt the changes then add the file. In order to compare files you can also use winmerge according to this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/compare-theme-files-winmerge-tutorial/
If you still can’t manage this and you need additional assistance or informations, please fell free to ask and address us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and also provide a link to this conversation and give us ftp and wp access.
Thanks!
