Short version if you look on this page on the left on a non-mobile browser there is the social media plugin thing. We only have the one with youtube on individual articles. Previously it was using the old Youtube link before we were able to customise it with having enough subscribers. I noticed it was saying we had zero subscribers so I went to the theme panel to change it to “https://www.youtube.com/geeksocietyau”. I hit save and reload the above page and the link it is trying to use now is “https://www.youtube.com/geeksocietyau/www.youtube.com/geeksocietyau” which obviously doesn’t work.
I doubled back to the social settings and tried to just set geeksocietyau or /geeksocietyau but that produces an error and I think prevents from saving. Not quite sure what to do here or if there are potentially other parts of the site impacted.
Hi,
Seems the YouTube is not properly configured in the social counter. Check in Appearance->Widgets and identify the sidebar used on that post. In the YouTube id field enter this
– http://prntscr.com/midr2j
channel/UCC0LBPWOnqV53_IEHsaIfhA
Then the counter should display the correct information, I tested this and it works
– http://prntscr.com/midrm0
Thanks
Ok but that changes it back to how it was before which gives a count of 0 which is incorrect. I see changing it like you have said will change the widget without changing the set address in the theme panel, still does seem like an issue with that widget not just because the counter doesnt seem to work but I could end up with the URL twice using the main panels.
Actually correction, the url you said is what I was using before and I only changed it because I had zero displayed. Changing it where you have said I have that instead now as a displayed url…
https://www.youtube.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC0LBPWOnqV53_IEHsaIfhA
I have also just tried to remove the value from the theme panel and only leave it in the widget appearance setting like you said too.
From what I can see the social counter is still not set correctly, enter only the following in the YouTube field
channel/UCC0LBPWOnqV53_IEHsaIfhA
Not this
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC0LBPWOnqV53_IEHsaIfhA
The social counter does not have anything to do with the theme panel, there are no settings for it there. The social networks section will control the header and footer socials only – http://prntscr.com/mjg1cl there you have to enter the full link to the social accounts.
But in the social counter for YouTube in this case, enter it as shown
– http://prntscr.com/mjg20u – http://prntscr.com/mjg2ch
