Updated to 9.7 and site broken – where is support?

I am tearing my hair out with the latest 9.7 update. It is completely broken.

Not only but I had to Activate the theme again with the serial number which has never happened before.

Something about this update is not right. How do I get support to assist in repairing my site?

This is really unbelievable not to be able to get any support and all I can do is write to this forum and then my topic disappears.

If there is any advice or even paid support, I would like to hear from someone.

Hi Antoon,

I’m sorry about that but please notice that our new latest update works as expected and sohuld not break your website, sorry! The Newspaper theme update brings a change for the theme implementation. When you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7.1 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used. Otherwise, you will have basic WordPress functionality, complying with Envato WordPress Requirements – https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements
Please read this article we wrote on the new update https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/ to learn what it changes and what you must do in order to keep the functionality intact.
Also, please provide more details about your problems encountered so we can identify them and also, so we can provide a more accurate response/code.

Thank you for understanding!

Thanks for your prompt reply Catalin

I’ll look into your advice. It suddenly occurred to me to reinstall the previous version of the theme from December and this restored the site functionality. Unfortunately, I took 24 hour hours of playing around with disabling and enabling plug-ins without success before coming to that conclusion.

I’ll read from your links later when I have time and see if I can get the new version to work correctly.

Thanks, Antoon

Catalin

I am coming to see where the problem lies.

I have someone who posts for me on http://www.bayonline.co.nz and it seems that they have installed a plugin ‘WPBakery Page Builder’. TagDiv Composer causes images to be cropped off (specifically on the right-hand sidebar of the magazine Bay Waka cover, and the link behind that), so I disabled TagDiv a while back to correct that problem.

From this experience, it seems that we need to disable ‘WPBakery Page Builder’ and instead reply on TagDiv Composer. Is that right?

I tried turning off WPBakery Page Builder and the site broke immediately.

Do you have any knowledge or experience with what I am talking about, enough to state your advice?

Thank you.
Regards, Antoon

Hi Antoon,

Sorry about that but please notice that we cannot re-create this error, sorry! Also, I check your website and your theme used it seems to be 9.2.2. Give me some screenshots with your errors so we can identify them. Also, please make sure when you update the theme to the latest version of it. First of all, you need to make a full backup to your database and then, you have to remove your old theme and then add the new theme folder which contains the latest version of the theme. Also, you have not to overwrite because then you will encounter some problems. I request you to make a new install to a new sub-domain and check how it works and also, you can provide it here for more inspections.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you!
