Hi,
we have a site running Newspaper theme 9.2.2 and we’re having problems with the TD Composer plugin and need to update it so that we can get the YouTube API settings incorporated into the theme panel.
Last time we tried updating the theme (from 9.2.2 to 9.7.2) was back in May 2019 and it bricked the site so we decided to hold off for a while.
Is there an article that lists out the steps in detail for successfully updating? For example do we need to go from 9.2.2 to 9.7.3 first, then jump to 10.3.1?

Edit: If it matters we are using the Envato Market plugin. Is this the best way to proceed with updating?

In this case I think that the better way it will be to make a staging website where to set the actual version, delete the theme using FTP and replace it with the one from v10.3.1 also deactivate all plugins until you make the update, after that go in welcome section and install the theme plugins -> https://i.imgur.com/ilG68q4.png if evrithing is go normal, then you can start to activate the plugins one by one and check the website, also if you are using a child theme, you need to replace it with the one from Newspaper X package.

Hi,
Thank you, I was able to get most of the way through updating everything – child theme, theme panel settings, etc. The only part is I noticed that all of my widgets are missing now from the Widget area:
https://dev.mysite.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
I’m thinking this was somehow cleared out after doing the update? Is it possible to reimport all of the widgets or do I have to set them all up again?

In the moats cases this problem appear when you make the update via WordPress, using this method you need to change the theme, therefore the widgets will be deactivate in set in inactive widgets -> https://i.imgur.com/H73IQOD.png to prevent this problem, we recommend to make the update via FTP -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
In your case you can get all the widgests from incative, but you’ll need to set theme back manually, sorry for the inconvenience!
