updating Newspaper theme (non-ftp)

Hi team,

I’m running Newspaper on a multisite installation with each site its own domain name, to save on storage, processing, maintenance overhead and simplify things overall.

If all goes well I’ll be buying 5+ more licenses soon.

I have the problem that when I try to update it online,
it goes to
https://mynewspaperdomainname . com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_updates#

which redirects me to

https://host. mycompanyname .com/wp-admin/network/update-core.php

It says my current WP version is 6.2 and the only button there is to Re-install version 6.2

No mention about Newspaper.

I don’t want to use FTP based installs as I will mainly use an iPad to travel around the world and maintain things.

How to get it fixed so the updates work within the WordPress dashboard?

FYI. I’ve tried to update the manual way and it totally destroyed my site.

I made a backup of the Newspaper theme.
I removed the Newspaper folder.
I copied newspaper.zip into the folder and unpacked it.
All was fine until then.
I had to go in and update all of the plugs in the Newspaper dashboard.
Did then.
Then as soon as I wanted to activate it, all broke.
My dashboard sidebar isn’t even showing anymore.

I finally got the ftp update to work. Quite the scare
as it was showing errors everywhere.
I was able to go in on the multisite host and saw there were 2 newspaper themes active.
Might be good to mention not to just delete the folder but also delete the theme somehow in the multisite themes.
It’s showing up now.

I would really like the automated update to work though.

I love Newspaper Theme and am ready to buy a lot more licenses but updating is is such a mess. Please find a way to make it work, not just for me but for the 100,000+ customers.

Hello,

I’m glad that you finally managed to do the update.
Now related to the update process, several problems may appear, but from what we have investigated, they were caused by a conflicting plugin, or by the settings on the host, so we recommend making a full backup and deactivating the extra plugin during the update.

Thank you!
