Updating Visual Composer

Hi,

I read the documentation about updating Visual Composer. It says to delete the plugin and upload the new version.

Will this affect the current layout of my website? When deleting the plugin, won’t this delete all settings?

My main concern is to have to redo all the layout for my posts and pages.

Deleting a plugin will not delete settings, I believe. But to be safe, you can just rename the folder to jscomposer-backup while updating. If it works, delete. If it doesn’t, delete your new folder and rename the original back to what it was.

You can also backup your theme settings from the admin panel for safekeeping, I believe.

@Liz You can safely follow that guide it won’t affect your setting. The VC plugin creates short-codes, if the VC plugin it’s missing those short-codes wont be interpreted.
