Can some one give me a step by step guide on how to upgrade my theme?

Get off the new version of the theme and replaces the Newmag folder on the FTP have this new one. Nothing more than that.
Make a backup just in case.

First of all, please backup the whole current theme installation as well as the database and wp install: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
After this, you can use the ftp method from theme’s update guide to upload theme’s files and remove the previous theme files before uploading the most recent ones then test this again and let us know how it goes.
