Upsize images?

The pictures I use in my newspaper blog comes from a source where they are 490px width.
At the startpage in slider the pic needs to be 700px width. I can live with the quality reduction after an upsize but how to do it automatically? I dont want to upsize every pic I get by opening Photoshop 🙂

Any solutions to this?

Hi, Stefan
for one of our projects in past we created a “droplet” in Photoshop to resize everything, and then dragged folder onto droplet. Hard to do with WP pix if you have only the folder on server with all the thumbs. If you had an original work folder on a PC/Mac with files in one folder, that’s a super easy way to batch it.

Also, on our live site (vs the test site), it appears the theme gracefully will put a gray box in back, as we used to have 600px images with our old theme, so this doesn’t look too hideous, as so:

Not sure if that helps. 🙂

Hello,

Wordpress cannot make the pictures bigger. I’m thinking to add a new post template that fill float the featured image to the left. But that too can create potential problems with some html content in posts.

THANKS! This is good enough for me so far.

Stefan
I use Post Thumbnail Editor ( plugin )
It works very well, much faster then edit the image in photoshop 🙂 it take max 20 sec. 🙂

Hello all … (copied from another post in forum by myself)

Don’t know if this helps … but one trick I did once upon a time was go into the WP media settings and set the “large thumbnail” size to the desired new size, for this example 745×483 size, then use the regenerate thumbnails plugin to generate those sizes. This gets you past the first hurdle of actually having images set to the correct size from either featured image or the first image in post.
