Use design from single_template_8.php for page.php in child theme

Hi,

I would like to use the look & feel of the single_template_8.php (= assigned image in the background) for the page.php template.

I am working with a child theme and would like to insert a copy of page.php into my child folder to realize the above mentioned design changes. The assigned image from a page should be used as background image and above the content a transparent “window” should be displayed.

Could you please give me some hint and advice in how to make this work?

Hi,

Pages need to be built with the page editors, and the elements that are available not through template code modifications. Something similar to post template 8 is the Homepage post element

You can place that on pages, and use the posts you want. This may be what you are looking for.

Hi Simion,

thanks for your reply. I understand that normally the pages are meant to be built with the offered templates, blocks, elements, etc. But in this case I definitely need a customized solution, because I just need the design (HTML & CSS) to make a dynamic page look like template 8.

The homepage one top post is very similar to what the page should look like – that’s great! I just need to figure out how to fill the content dynamically – the functionality offered within the homepage one top post via page builder does not fulfill my needs.

But this will be my task, I fully understand that you can not support individual customization requests.
