I have to change my theme because my advertiser demands a 980px site now and I’ve needed a theme which is very customizeable, too (support all kinds of custom post types and such). I still love Newspapaer and will use it for another project but here comes the problem now.
I have around 1500 posts where I used the source and via fields. The big problem: It is extremely complicated to retrieve this data because it isn’t saved in the database like other custom fields and calling the same function doesn’t work. I have hired a specialist and he has big troubles getting this data to a new environment. After many hours: Still no luck.
Just wanted to warn you guys: You could get into trouble here. I would suggest to use a credit plugin which is saving your input clearly in the database. Or is anyone here who managed to retrieve this data?

As I wrote in your other topic: for sure you can find it in the database! You only have to know how to export it!

i think it has been removed since 4.0 …
why did they remove it ???

I’ve talked to a specialist: Those are not standard meta entries but based on this: https://github.com/farinspace/wpalchemy, making it extremely complicated to migrate. So, I would suggest you guys to use a plugin with standard practices for sources and via, else it could become really expensive if you want to switch, customize or something like this.
