I have been using Simple User Avatar with Newspaper for many years. Suddenly it stopped working. May I suggest that the Newspaper theme include the capability of uploading an author image?

Unfortunately we did not tested that plugin with our theme, if you want to use some plugins for user avatar we recommend Wp User Avatar -> https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-user-avatar/

I just uploaded the WP User Avatar plugin by Flippercode and it is also deactivating. I emailed support a few days ago but have not heard back yet.
