The ‘Photon’ feature that Jetpack uses allows all featured images to fit in the correct dimensions on their own.
Example: http://thechive.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/this-mail-18.jpg?w=198&h=148&crop=1 – you are able to change the end numbers and they will adjust to that size
This will prevent everybody from having to manually adjust individual images for the featured image slider/post which I have noticed has been a hassle to many.
*I’m not using Jetpack because of speed issues and limiting of plugins*
