I recently switched from Newspaper to another theme, but I really like the tagdiv gallery that came with Newspaper. Is it possible for me to use that gallery within a different theme?

That will not be possible. Each premium theme has a different functionality, elements from one theme will not work on other themes. The tagDiv gallery is created and meant to be used only with our theme.
Maybe the other theme has a gallery element of it’s own, or you could use gallery plugins.
