I am sorry to say that all widgets disappear when in custom sidebars. Not in default sidebars.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Please only use default characters in the custom sidebar names as WordPress will strip the sidebars of content when it detect any symbols or language specific characters. The sidebar names cannot be seen on the front-end so the name for them does not matter that much.

Oh well. I did some rather extensive testing and it seems that non only are non-English characters bad, but also hyphens.
Now testing without hyphens.
