Version 11.5: How to set up a template for CPT?

Hello,

it’s great that Newspaper finally supports CPT. But I haven’t found out, how to apply a template to a CPT. This is what I did and what I tried:

I have a CPT for podcast-episodes, created by the plugin Podlove Podcast Publisher. I want to use my standard single post template for the podcast episodes. The standard single post template is set to global.

After updating to version 11.5 I see the CPT Episodes in the CPT tab of the templates. But after reloading a podcast episode, it does not have the standard layout (no sidebar etc.). Hm …
I noticed, that even post appear under CPT.

I created a new template for episodes. But I see this template suddenly in every CPT category box. I only want it for episodes. I inserted the standard templates content/layout into the episodes template. I reloaded the podcast episode, but the layout still did not change. Hm …

I now set the CPT template for episodes to global. After a reload the podcast episodes now have the desired layout. But I don’t want the podcast template to be a global template. I only want it for podcast episodes, with a different sidebar and maybe later some special layout elements only for CPT episodes/podcast.

So what did I do wrong? How do I apply a template only to a special CPT?
