Thanks everyone for sharing all the information and workarounds to fix this.
I think it’s a ver good thread with a lot of valuable information to let the dev team solve this issue instead of using some patches or plugins to solve a real problem.
Once the problem is solved, all solutions given in this thread could speed the sites up even more and that’s a good news.
But let’s give the Tagdiv team some time so they could fix the real issue. I’m sure they’ll come up with some fix.

We are also facing similar issue as poldino and Eighthats have highlighted. We hope theme support team will look into these issue and will get fix in next release.
So you guys hid all of the comment posts? Seems like an irrational move. We just purchased a different theme from a different provider for three more web projects, and for a fourth, we’ll likely move them off of the old newspaper version to an entirely different theme…

Hi, we have the same issue and it hás been repórted in the beggining of the year if not earlier. We are in October now. Since then several updates came out and no improvement was made to solve this and make the theme workable and efficient with 7days/ 48hours/24hours post sorting. Future clients Will read fórums and investigate for major issues like this before purchasing a theme. Remember that when you set priorities for future updates.

The feature was working on 11.5 too. But was causing a huge load on database. Making the website inaccessible at the end! At least, this was my issue when using the popular articles feature!
We have explained the issue in several threads here in forums.
I have not downloaded the new update yet, but I have not seen any mention to the problem, so developers did nothing to resolve it!

Hi Team, I have also a similar issue to load the page.
Theme Version: NewsPaper 11.4
Plugin: tagDiv Composer: 3
Plugin: tagDiv Cloud Library: 1.9
One of the biggest issues with the site at the moment is that it makes a number of SQL CALC_NUM_ROWS queries that only need to know the latest 4 posts. it scans all the posts of DB and it’s around 400K posts in the wp_posts table. Those types of DB queries execute by the theme. How can we optimize the theme DB query?
For all of those who are suffering this issue I was the guy that opened this thread.
We waited more than 5 months. I even defended the DEV team from this theme to allow them time to fix it.
This thread has a LOT of information and the same issue is reported over and over again.
So, after this extremely long waiting here is the conclusion:
If your project is an small project or a demo site (just for fun) use this theme.
If your project is a serious one, stop using Newspaper. It doesn’t work with big sites.
The dev team confirmed the issue so there is nothing else to talk about. The theme doesn’t work and they are not going to fix it soon.
Buy another theme. Period.
I’m leaving this thread. We already changed the theme for a faster one.

Same here. We are running TagDiv on three high volume sites – and running into tons of issues despite putting in a ton of caching. We know it’s the db queries, and which queries, but without hacking the theme, we are looking at alternatives. Any thoughts on that newly popular jnews?
The thing is that we are not using WordPress anymore. I’ve told the client that the issue was not WordPress but the theme itself but they forced me to move to another solution.
We are now using a custom made open source platform for big news sites. We are at 1.2 million visits per month.
I can’t share the name yet, we have only used for 3 weeks and I’m just getting used to it. There are some very nice things and some others that I missed from WP so much.
Just do your own research, I’m sure there are several themes availables for big sites or jump to another kind of solution.
