Wouldnt it be better to have the video icon as a image watermark so that we will have to call one less image in template, will be faster and also for facebook thumnail the video icon will be in the image

It does not seem to be hosting specific.
Can’t you do something similar? so that we will have a media query less for each image displayed on the page, and it will have the video icon in the image even on facebook, twitter, pinterest, google….

I am aware that there are plugins that watermark images. But this issue is debatable I’m sure some users would prefer the un marked thumbnails/feature images that can be edited later or used in posts.
You are the only person that requested this, as such we may never implement it.
I hope you understand why we take this decision.
