can i use self hosted videos instead of vimeo or youtube?

You can use your own videos with all WordPress themes, as you likely know, by simply uploading them from a post page or from the media manager

supported formats in WP:
Video
◾ .mp4, .m4v (MPEG-4)
◾ .mov (QuickTime)
◾ .wmv (Windows Media Video)
◾ .avi
◾ .mpg
◾ .ogv (Ogg)
◾ .3gp (3GPP)
◾ .3g2 (3GPP2)

Normally you can embed video into any WP page or post using shortcode, or just the full URL to the video on your site, CDN, etc. as so:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Video_Shortcode

With the theme, I think in a post you can choose “Style 8” for a featured video, then put in the URL to your video (try it).

I have no idea if the “video playlist” supports locally hosted videos, as I’ve not yet tried that.

with my videos, they are hosted on amazon cloudfront. i use fv player pro plugin to embed the video (https://foliovision.com). how can i put in the url in the featured video

Hi,

Unfortunately the video URL filed supports only Vimeo/Youtube/DailyMotion videos so you need to customize the theme to support your videos or you can add the video manually.
