View Count

Hello,

JetPack Stats is showing hundreds of readers to a particular story, but the page view count is showing many fewer views.

This has only become a problem recently, as the view counts essentially matched over my several years using this theme.

Can you please advise on troubleshooting?

Hi,
If the cache is on, please check if this option is also enabled in the theme panel -> https://i.imgur.com/1rvCd9x.png
Also, the real and unique value for your visitors is given by Google Analytics. Our post-view counter should count any post-visualization, even if the post is visited twice by the same person and that’s why it can appear some difference.
Thank you!

Thanks for your prompt response. I am using a cache and the box you pointed out already was turned on.

This is a recent problem and only manifested after the most recent Newsmag theme update.

The counter is WAY off, not even close to counts coming in from WP Stats.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,
Do you also use google analytics? If yes, please also compare the results with those from google analytics and see if the difference is the same. Also, if possible provide a link to a post so I can check is the counter is ok.
Thank you!

Thanks for your help.

As far as I know, I don’t have Google Analytics on the site. I cannot find any plug in that would indicate such.

Jetpack Stats, which is installed, has shown about 900 site visits in the past two days. 587 of those are showing as viewing the post below. Yet, as of this morning, the post itself is showing only 193 views.

Another post is showing 4,228 views in Jetpack Stats, but the on-post display indicates only 1,114 views.

Something is not working correctly, and this is new. Previously, the post counts were reflecting accurately.

I see that the counter is correctly counting each refresh/open of the post -> https://i.imgur.com/DLpsYBp.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/Hx0xmmd.png I believe the problem is coming from amp https://i.imgur.com/4WIogjy.png normally the theme counter is not counting when the amp is enabled https://i.imgur.com/4WIogjy.png and I believe that most of the visitors are mobile users. I think that there is that difference.

Thank you for the investigation.

This is a recent problem. It has not manifested previously.

Is there any way to fix this without disabling AMP?

I know that TagDiv recommends AMP. What happens if I turn it off?

Hi,
Unfortunately, this situation can be resolved only if the amp plugin is disabled, then all the views from mobile and desktop will continue counting.
Thank you!

Thank you for your response.

How will disabling AMP affect the performance and appearance of my site on mobile devices?

Post count: 35449

This can be done only if you need to disable the amp plugin from the plugins.

I’m not sure I understand your answer.

My question is: how will disabling AMP affect the appearance and performance of my web site on mobile devices?

Thanks!

Hi,
The amp version is only used for the mobile version to deliver the website from the google cache. Once deactivated, the user will access the website directly.
Now some effects, there are users who claim that the amp helps them index and rerank on Google, but at the same time, there are also users who have dynamic content on the website and claim that for them the amp is not relevant and has no effect on the site.
Thank you!
