Although my Newspaper 9 theme is holding the pages together it only shows up the page layout codes when editing, cant build or edit pages, all blocks have disappeared in editor. Text is unavailable in editor also.
Is there anyone that can look at this for me?
Hi,
Which page builder have you used to build the pages? Also what theme version and WordPress version are you using?
When editing a page there should be buttons for each page builder
– http://prntscr.com/ngr7gf
But if you use for example the latest WordPress version and an older theme and plugins, the buttons may be missing, or the builders will not work properly. It is important to keep wordpress but also theme and plugins up to date, if possible. Let me know.
Thanks
I built the site with Visual Composer and am using latest versions of Newspaper 9 (as far as I know, I keep getting notifications that you have updated 9 but my site says I have updated versions of it and the latest WordPress version.
The buttons are missing, they were there, I tried using tagdiv composer but it broke the css? of the image blocks in the VC layouts.
There were some changes made to the theme in update 9.7 – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Now the tagDiv composer has to be active at all times to maintain the same functionality. If you have updated to the latest version please activate the tagDiv composer as well.
The issue you are referring to with the single image elements when both our composer and Visual composer are active, will be fixed in the next update. In the mean time the fix is to download this file – http://cdn.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/tdc_map.zip and replace it in the tagDiv composer – http://prntscr.com/nikwre Teh single images will look and function correctly after doing this.
Sorry for this inconvenience, the fix will be included in the next theme update.
In case the page builder buttons don’t appear after you update the theme and theme plugins, we could take a look at it. Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. Please include a link to this topic in the email. Let us know.
Thanks for the response Simeon, I use Newspaper 9 and have relied on the awesomeness of the block builder in the Virtual Composer. It appears it was a conflict between the editor and the Events calendar plugin
I have built a citizen journalism newspaper site, a budding platform of sorts, especially in the entertainment and local arts
I have been using Advanced Post Manager for their 11 pre set templates, especially the video option to replace Feature Pic and WP Edit Pro for advanced WYSIWYG functionality.
This has worked well for some years…now Gutenberg got thrown in…needless to say it is disabled.
I installed TagDiv Composer and it killed my WYSYWIG set up and broke the WPBakery layouts, so I deleted it.
I need to understand do I need those 2 plugins? Does Visual Composer have those extra WYSIWYG capabilities?
I’m trying to stay composed but site has been plaaying up
The tagDiv composer plugin is now even more required than before, but the theme can still be used without it. However it will be limited quite severely. For example without the composer there will be just one post template – http://prntscr.com/njstyc
This happens because after the 9.7 update many theme files were moved in the composer plugin, without it being active the files will not load.
If you relied on WPBakery to build the website, and there are problems after updating, maybe you should consider using the previous theme version (9.6.1) before this changes were made, for the time being. That version can be downloaded from here

We will try to eliminate conflicts that may happen between our composer and WPBakery, in coming updates. You could attempt the update at a later time. Also maybe consider creating a testing copy of the website on a sub-domain for example, and update there to see what happens. This would be a safer way.
